I was shocked and disappointed by the revelation of how comedians are viewed in the eyes of the government.
Where actors, singers, and even mimes are considered to be artists, comedy is considered a profession. You might be thinking "that doesn't seem so bad" but they as professionals, are not given the same benefits that are afforded to artists. ie. Government grants, tax benefits, and government support. I guess with as little as they are able to earn perfoming stand-up, they would be better off miming the house they can't afford to live in. At least then, they'll get treated as an artist
